Dear Friend,
We live in a world where peace is becoming, yet one more time, illusory. I hope not, I pray not, but already so many places and countries have lost their peace—and many more are like powder kegs, as we wait to see whether or not people will be able to come to peace with one another.
Sometimes I think back on all my peace bracelets and necklaces from a younger day. I still have one, a dove on a baked clay medallion that I wear from time to time, when I read of terrible events. I know it doesn’t particularly make a difference, but I like to wear it when I feel sad for this world and the state into which people have driven it. And I pray for peace. The Bible instructs us to do so.
So… please pray for peace. FaithPrayers will be having an upcoming prayer focus on peace and we encourage you to join in.
But one thing that may be important to remember… we have a promise to cling to. Yeshua (Jesus in English) is named the Prince of Peace. “And his name will be called…. Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6 RSV). And, he said to those who believe in him… “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you” (John 14:27 RSV).
I wonder what would happen if we grabbed hold with true faith to that statement. Incorporated it into the fabric of our lives and asked the Holy Spirit to quicken its truth in our hearts.
Peace to you, dear friends. May you seek peace. May you find peace. May you love and hold it dear in your hearts. May those around you see it emanating from you.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Offenstein
