But the fruit of the Spirit is…kindness…
Galatians 5:22 (RSV)
Of all the manifestations of goodness and of God’s Presence, kindness may be in a category all by itself. So many other words reflect goodness—words such as love, generosity, joy–but kindness is unique.
Kindness often springs from a single-minded motive, from a truth-filled action to simply make something better for another person or animal.
Modern research suggests that just experiencing the emotions and actions of kindness can lower blood pressure. Stanford University studies show that when people are the recipients of kind words or actions, they are automatically more likely to behave kindly themselves.
If the human race began to live out just this one word—kindness—it might very well be life-changing….for our earth, and for all of its residents.
Ephesians 4:32 says, so simply: Be kind to one another… (RSV)
