I wonder if you are experiencing the same thing I am—each time that I see or even just hear of someone being a source of light in a situation right now, I find myself encouraged.
Light is interesting in that it spreads. If a person brings a box that’s dark inside and sets it in the center of a lighted room, the darkness doesn’t really spread. But if a person brings a light, whether a candle, a lantern, or an electric light into a dark room, the light spreads and illuminates.
The same is true of the light of compassion. Right now, when we see a person, a community, or a nation acting in compassion toward those who are vulnerable and need protection, the light of love spreads.
I hope that I, and all of us, can choose to be part of that light.
